Who Was Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane, Braveheart Army Jawan Killed By Pakistan In Sunderbani Of J&K?

Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane of Indian Army was killed on Saturday after sustaining critical injuries during a ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane, who hailed from the village of Khalane in Maharashtra’s Dhule district suffered injuries after Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked firing from across the border in Sunderbani sector. He later succumbed to his wounds, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate. The 22-year-old jawan was rushed to a hospital but couldn’t be rescued, according to PTI.

Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane is survived by his wife. According to an Army officer, “Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane was a brave and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty.”

The jawan’s death comes a week after fifty-year-old Head Constable RP Hazra was killed in a reported ceasefire violation by Pakistani rangers in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir. RP Hazra, who is survived by his wife and two children, a daughter (21) and a son (18), was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on January 3. Hazra had served 27 years for Border Security Force guarding the LoC. The BSF immediately retaliated and gunned down two Pakistani mortar positions and also gunned down one of the intruders along the International Border in Nikowal Border Out Post in Arnia sector.

The killing of Head Constable Hazra came days after a jawan was killed along the Line of Control in Rajouri district on December 31, 2017. Sepoy Jagsir Singh was killed during an unprovoked ceasefire violation from across the border. 2017 had seen more than 500 ceasefire violations along India’s International borders, which was a 230 per cent rise from 2016 in which Pakistan violated ceasefire 450 times, killing 13 civillians and as many security personnel. Fourteen army personnel were killed in 2017 ceasefire violations. India shares a 3,323-km border with Pakistan, of which 221 km of international border and 740 km of the LoC fall in Jammu and Kashmir.
